No, not how it really happened. But director Charles Martin Smith ("Air Bud") wrings a lot of real tears and some laughs in this fictionalized account of how a dolphin helped humans survive almost fatal injury, and how this dolphin has become a source of inspiration for others.

Nathan Gamble stars as Sawyer, a 11 year old boy who helps a dolphin and fisherman, he is stranded on a beach, its tail coiled rope attached to a crab pot. Sawyer, an outcast who fights at school, the new purpose is to save this animal. Cozi Zuehlsdorff is Hazel, the girl who comes with his father Navy vet (Harry Connick Jr.) and a team from the nearby hospital to pick naval winter, as they call and try to save her.
